Ik denk er wel over om die boeken op BE aan te gaan bieden in de hoop dat dat geen tevergeefse moeite is (of weggegooid geld - eBay sponsoring). ;-)

Verzamelaars omaatje, dit zijn geen gewone boeken om te lezen of zo maar boeken om te hebben, om de verzameling mee uit te breiden. :-)

Of eBay opsplitsen in de oude site (verzamelaars, hobbyisten, antiek, tweedehands, kleinschalig, ambachtelijk, nieuwe producten maar op beperkte schaal, waarin veiling een belangrijke plaats heeft) en een nieuwe site als concurrentie voor de klassieke kleinhandel met een eigen regelgeving. eBay Express was een poging in de richting van het laatste maar is terug opgedoekt.

The company did create a whole new site, called eBay Express, where it tried to satisfy buyer interest in a simpler shopping experience. EBay Express automatically amassed all the fixed-price, non-auction listings on eBay properties and presented them in an organized way with only one payment system, PayPal — also owned by eBay.

The company shuttered eBay Express this year and has said it will move some of its innovative features to eBay.com.

There seems to be a perception that sorting by time ending soonest will go away. This is not true. Auctions will continue to be sorted by time ending soonest (after demoting the sellers with low DSRs), since this makes most sense for that format. However, there are other sorting criteria that are much more relevant for the fixed price format, such as price and popularity, since they reflect value to the buyer.

The details of exactly how the algorithm works can't be revealed mainly because it will evolve according to which mix of sorting criteria perform best for a particular category. In the same way that search engines frequently update their sorting algorithm, we will constantly be fine tuning it to ensure that the most relevant, good-value, and trusted fixed price items are given visibility.

As of Sept 25, Auction and BIN items will be sorted according to two different sets of criteria (time ending soonest and DSR scores for auction, and a mix of trust, value and popularity for BIN). Once the items for each format are sorted, the two separate lists are blended together based on buyer behaviour and can vary for category and query. However, importance will be placed on good DSRs, recent sales (in categories where multi quantity listing is prevalent), good value and relevant item titles.

Fixed Price: If you list an item with a quantity of 1 and sell it, you can then relist more of the same item within 7 days and you'll keep the recent sales rating (and improved placement in Best Match) from having sold it before. You need to use the relist button in order to retain your recent sales score. the Sell Similar will reset your score.

Popularity is the number of items sold from a multiple item listing over the preceding seven days; the score remains valid for seven days after the end of a listing. Listings which have sold more individual items will be advantaged in Best Match search sorting.

eBay give some advice for sellers to take advantage of this:

• sellers should list single multiple-item listings instead of running many listings just for one item
• sellers should relist sold items within seven days to take advantage of their established popularity
• sellers should use longer listings - 10 days - to gain greater visibility for their item
• sellers listing auctions needn’t make any change: their listings will continue to be sorted by ending soonest

eBay has decided to institute a global ban on the sale of all types of ivory. This global ban will be effective January 1, 2009.

We will allow some antique items that contain a small amount of ivory, such as a table with a small ivory inlay or an antique piano with ivory keys. We define “antique” for the sale of items that contain a small amount of ivory as pre-1900.

Items which contain a significant amount of ivory, regardless of the age, such as chess sets, ivory broaches and ivory jewelry are not permitted under the new policy.
