Here is a breakdown of what is being introduced this month:
1. In order to encourage repeat transactions and reward good service, eBay will provide credit for similar repeat transactions going back to when the system was introduced in 1996.
2. In May, sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers.
3. eBay will remove negative and neutral Feedback left by members who are suspended or who fail to respond to the Unpaid Item (UPI) Process.
4. Positive Feedback percentage will be based on the past 12 months of Feedback, rather than lifetime on the site.
5. Restrictions on when Feedback can be left:
- Buyers must wait seven days before leaving negative or neutral Feedback for active PowerSellers who have been registered for at least 12 months.
- Members must leave Feedback within 60 days of the transaction closing (today members have up to 90 days).
6. eBay is removing Mutual Feedback Withdrawal.

Litmus Test voor eBay's PayPal-Only Policy
Op het ogenblik zijn er blijkbaar nog geen plannen om het aangekondigde PayPal monopolie op eBay Australië ook in de nabije toekomst in te voeren op andere eBay sites, maar de deur is niet gesloten voor een toekomstige uitbreiding.

We certainly have not announced any plans to bring Safe Payments - other than PayPal-required for listings in the UK - we haven't announced Safe Payments anywhere else in the world, and we're not in the position to do that today."

In the US, we are not mulling, planning, or otherwise seriously considering a move to PayPal-only. There are US market-specific reasons why PayPal-only is something we simply cannot do in the US.

Honderden bezwaren, waarbij deze van toch belangrijke instanties, tegen PayPal's aangekondigde monopolie op eBay Australië zijn aan het binnenstromen bij de dienst voor mededinging en consumentenbescherming van de Australische overheid die hierover, een voor eBay Australië en ook internationaal, hoogstwaarschijnlijk belangrijke uitspraak zal doen.
Een van de zwaargewichten die afgelopen week bezwaar heeft aangetekend is de Australian Bankers Association (ABA). Zij beweren dat op dit ogenblik slechts 50 percent van de transacties op eBay Australië betaald worden via PayPal, met bankoverschrijving als tweede populairst gebruikte optie.

Niettegenstaande alle commotie en controversie blijft eBay bij zijn plannen om, wat betreft eBay Australië, op 21 mei PayPal als alternatieve betaalmethode te verplichten, gevolgd door een verbod op andere betaalmethode op 17 juni.
Wordt ongetwijfeld vervolgd.
